The pitch at which leg screw threads were originally cut is no longer available from modern metric thread cutters. Using original thread cutters, we can offer

1" diameter; for some continental squares (e.g. Mercken 1784) (3 turns per inch)
1 and ½" diameter; for English squares (3 turns per inch)
2" diameter; for later grands (e.g. Pleyel c1845) (3 turns per 1+18'')

Threads are supplied as standard with a 1 inch diameter stub; should you have a very early piano, you may request a ¾ inch stub, to suit the thinner turned legs.

We also offer a fitting service, where legs with broken threads can be sent to the workshop for the precision fitting of new threads using our lathe.
